We’re blogging today to let you know Daytuner is now an approved Premier Centre for Bike Interceptor.

The compact Interceptor unit plugs straight into your bike’s original connectors and delivers class leading performance.

What is the Interceptor?
The Interceptor is a small electronic module that plugs directly into your bike.

It allows the fuel injection tuning, engine response and power to be improved and adds amazing features like on-board datalogging, traction control and more.

Bike Interceptor

The usual result after fitment and tuning is an engine with more power and throttle response, correct air-fuel ratio and improved emissions.

Easy to Install
Direct plug-in cables and a great software package keep installations easy and fast.

Easy to Tune
With Auto Tuning, the software can automatically adjust the Fuel Map for the best performance.
* Auto Tuning operates with the optional Wideband AFR Sensor kit connected.
Included PC software contains 3D graphing, dashboard and live tuning with datalog playback.

Traction Control
Traction Control is standard on all supported bike models. No extra sensors are required, it works from the original sensors on your bike.
* Traction Control is intended to be an aid against rear wheel slip only, and is not a guarantee of perfect tyre grip, safety or absolute tyre slip prevention. Always ride safely and within your limits.

Response Control
Response Control always gives you the sharpest possible throttle response.

USB Datalogging
Datalog your race or ride directly to a USB memory stick. Just plug it straight into the Interceptor.
Take the stick from the Interceptor to your PC and play your ride back any time you like!

Eight Injectors controlled
Primary and secondary rail fuel injectors are all controlled and mapped. A proven power, throttle response and efficiency increase for all current model sportbikes with dual fuel injector rails.

Dual Maps
Select between 2 sets of maps and settings from a switch or any other signal.

Quick Shifter
Add a quick shift sensor package and enjoy full throttle clutchless upshifts.

Expansion
Shift Light Control, switchable Pit Lane Speed Limiter, Boost Control, Analog Inputs, Air Fuel Ratio logging, Suspension Travel sensors and more are supported on the included Expansion Port.

Interceptor cables are manufactured and tested to strict automotive quality standards.

If you are looking for an alternative to the Dynojet Power Commander System, the Bike Interceptor could be the perfect solution. Contact Damian on 01423 523 323

Daytuner Performance will be supporting Steve McDonald again in 2010. After last year’s successful adventure to the TT in which Steve finished every entered race;

Steve; made his debut in all five solo races, covering a total of 24 laps (906 racing miles) of the grueling Mountain Course, bringing his machines home in one piece in all his races. An achievement in itself seeing as many of the top teams struggled to finish in one or two of their races.

By the time he had completed the full week of practice Steve had covered some Twenty two laps (830 racing miles), had as good as sorted the gremlins with Supersport 600 and Superstock 750, but was still struggling with the 1000cc Superbike. Throw into the mix a high speed collision with a pheasant out in the sticks and a very low speed tumble at Braddan Bridge, (artistic merit marks were sixes across the board Steve), some pretty fancy physiotherapy and strapping for arm pump and you start to get a clearer picture of how much effort and energy Steve and the Team put into those six practice sessions.

Plans have started already for TT 2010 and it will hopefully be bigger and better than ’09!

Here at Daytuner Performance we are more than happy to share our experience with preparation and tuning for other TT / Manx competitors. Contact Damian here at Daytuner on 01423 523 323.

Engine tuning is the adjustment, modification or design of internal combustion engines to yield optimal performance, to increase an engine’s power output, economy, or durability. It has a long history, almost as long as the development of the car in general, originating with the development of early racing cars, and later, with the post-war hot-rod movement. Tuning can describe a wide variety of adjustments and modifications, from the routine adjustment of the carburetor and ignition system to significant engine overhauls. At the other end of the scale, performance tuning of an engine can involve revisiting some of the design decisions taken at quite an early stage in the development of the engine.

Setting the idle speed, fuel/air mixture, carburetor balance, spark plug and distributor point gaps, and ignition timing were regular maintenance items for all older engines and the final but essential steps in setting up a racing engine. On modern engines, equipped with electronic ignition and fuel injection, some or all of these tasks are automated, although they still require periodic calibration.

Performance tuning is the improvement of system performance. This is typically a computer application, but the same methods can be applied to economic markets, bureaucracies or other complex systems. The motivation for such activity is called a performance problem, which can be real or anticipated. Most systems will respond to increased load with some degree of decreasing performance. A system’s ability to accept higher load is called scalability, and modifying a system to handle a higher load is synonymous to performance tuning.

* Systematic tuning follows these steps:

1. Assess the problem and establish numeric values that categorize acceptable behavior.
2. Measure the performance of the system before modification.
3. Identify the part of the system that is critical for improving the performance. This is called the bottleneck.
4. Modify that part of the system to remove the bottleneck.
5. Measure the performance of the system after modification.

This is an instance of the measure-evaluate-improve-learn cycle from quality assurance.

A performance problem may be identified by slow or unresponsive systems. This usually occurs because high system loading, causing some part of the system to reach a limit in its ability to respond. This limit within the system is referred to as a bottleneck.

A handful of techniques are used to improve performance. Among them are code optimization, load balancing, caching strategy, and distributed computing, and self-tuning.
